In foreign language teaching, teachers are challenged with bridging the cultural differences. Teachers need to be aware that some of the most significant roles of teaching foreign language are introducing and making the students aware of the cultural gap in different cultures. This condition can influence the students’ motivations, willingness, and interest in studying the new language.

This book is written to help and prepare foreign language teachers to develop the ability and sensitivity to deliver both linguistics and intercultural communication to their students. This book contains eight chapters. Chapter I discusses the gap between cultures, Chapter II discusses the acculturation of foreign languages, Chapters III, IV, V, and VI explore the Indonesian cultures, Asian,  European, and Middle Eastern Cultures, Chapter VII explains the definition and importance of cross-cultural understanding for foreign language teachers, and finally, the last chapter contains a conclusion, implication, and recommendation.

All the discussions in the book are to ensure the teachers, students, or readers who use this book will have sufficient knowledge of cross-cultural understanding in foreign language teaching.
